UnitedHealthcare Dental is UnitedHealth Group’s dental business and operates through Dental Benefit Providers, Inc. (DBP). Its provider materials cover commercial group, individual and exchange, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid dental products.1 Payer portals, forms, IDs, and procedures change frequently. Timely-filing limits and other participation terms come from the applicable current payer materials and your executed agreement. Use this page as a starting point, then verify the product, entity, provider, location, and effective date with the payer.

Who they are

Contracts, remittances, and portal screens may use the Dental Benefit Providers name rather than the UnitedHealthcare brand. Record both names in the payer and contract files so staff can connect them.

Networks

UHC operates dental networks by product and line of business, including commercial DPPO, Medicare Advantage dental, and Medicaid dental in applicable programs. Confirm participation for each product. A commercial dental agreement does not by itself establish participation in a Medicaid or Medicare Advantage network. See Medicare Advantage dental and Medicaid dental.

Enrollment and credentialing

  • Enrollment starts with the join-our-network intake at uhcdental.com; UHC also credentials dental within its broader specialty-network process documented at uhcprovider.com.1
  • Servicing (eligibility, claim status, remits) runs through the UHC Dental Provider Portal at uhcdental.com / dbp.com.
  • Keep CAQH current. See Set up CAQH.

Billing notes

  • UHC publishes an 837D companion guide (005010X224A2); the authoritative spec for its dental EDI.2
  • Confirm the dental payer ID with your clearinghouse; UHC’s dental and medical claims do not share one.
  • Enroll for ERA/EFT on the dental side specifically; medical-side enrollment does not carry over. See Set up EDI, ERA, and EFT.
  • Medicaid and MA dental claims adjudicate against the plan’s fee schedule and preauthorization rules, which follow the government program, not the commercial product.
