Aetna Dental is the dental line of Aetna, a CVS Health company, selling a DPPO and the DMO (Aetna’s DHMO product). Dental participation is contracted separately from any Aetna medical relationship; enrollment in Aetna’s medical network confers nothing on the dental side.
Payer portals, forms, IDs, and procedures change frequently. Timely-filing limits and other participation terms come from the applicable current payer materials and your executed agreement. Use this page as a starting point, then verify the product, entity, provider, location, and effective date with the payer.

Enrollment and credentialing
- Provider enrollment runs through aetnadental.com with a CAQH ProView-based application; keep the profile complete, current, and attested before applying.2 See Set up CAQH.
- Aetna commits to network-rep contact within roughly 30 days of a complete submission (carrier-claimed; contact is not completion; full credentialing takes longer).2
- DMO participation is a separate contract from the DPPO.
Billing notes
- Standard 837D/ADA claim form workflow; confirm the current dental payer ID with your clearinghouse; Aetna’s dental and medical payer IDs differ.
- DMO capitation payments reconcile against member rosters, not claims; keep them out of your fee-for-service AR aging.
- Timely filing and attachment requirements are contract-specific. Verify against your executed participation agreement. See Timely filing limits.
