MCNA Dental is an independent, dentist-founded prepaid dental plan serving Medicaid and CHIP members in selected states. A group should confirm MCNA’s current contract and service area on the applicable state program site before adding it to the enrollment plan. Payer portals, forms, IDs, and procedures change frequently. Timely-filing limits and other participation terms come from the applicable current payer materials and your executed agreement. Use this page as a starting point, then verify the product, entity, provider, location, and effective date with the payer.

Who they are

In Texas and Louisiana, MCNA operates as a statewide Medicaid + CHIP dental plan.1

Enrollment and credentialing

MCNA publishes state-specific provider sites and materials. Start with the page for the state where the office is located: Determine separately whether the state requires Medicaid agency enrollment, enrollment with a managed care organization or dental plan, or both. Do not treat an MCNA contract as proof that every program enrollment step is complete. See Medicaid dental.

Billing

Confirm the accepted channels for eligibility, claims, preauthorizations, and remittances in the current state provider materials. If the program supports a clearinghouse, verify the payer ID and transaction types before the first claim.

Operational notes

  • State assignments change at reprocurement. Which DBA holds which state’s Medicaid dental contract is decided by periodic state procurement. Verify MCNA’s current status on the state Medicaid dental program page before enrolling, rather than trusting a cached list.
  • Preauthorization may be required for specified services. Build the current program rules into treatment planning and scheduling, and distinguish required authorization from a voluntary commercial predetermination.
