# CPOD and DSO law by jurisdiction

> Directory of corporate practice of dentistry and DSO legal reference pages for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

This directory links the corporate practice of dentistry (CPOD) and dental support organization (DSO) reference page for every U.S. state and the District of Columbia. Each page separates dental ownership, professional-entity form, fee rules, DSO or owner filings, clinical-control limits, succession, and primary sources.

Use the [national comparison table](/reference/legal/dso-laws-by-state) when you need to compare jurisdictions. Use a state page when you need the operative pinpoints, exceptions, and questions to verify before forming, acquiring, or operating a dental practice there.

## Research boundaries

The tier labels are editorial shorthand, not legal categories. A state can be permissive on practice ownership but restrictive on professional-entity shares, clinical control, fees, records, facilities, or advertising. A state can also impose a filing on a DSO, manager, business entity, non-dentist owner, or professional entity without using the same defined term as another state.

Read the current official authority linked on the state page before relying on a pinpoint. Pending and newly enacted changes are tracked separately on the [dental legislation tracker](/reference/legal/dental-legislation-tracker).
